Dempseys in Simpsonville SC

My husband had spoken many times of his paternal grandfather, William Dempsey. He remembered seeing him as a young child, and knew that because of his marriage to 2 sisters, that he had a "real" grandmother and then his "other" grandmother. That was about the extent of it. He knew he had a couple of uncles (Myrle and Clyde) who had lived around this area too, Myrle having worked at the 3M plant until his retirement. Since my hubby now works out at Donaldson himself, and 3M is on the Perimeter Rd, we had acknowledged knowing that, yet somehow the greater family implications hadn't really entered our thoughts.

My subscription with Ancestry began last week, and I decided, now that I had access to US records, to search for his family's info. I started filling out his tree, with him and his siblings, his mum and dad, and then - in locating his paternal grandfather - found he had died in Simpsonville in 1993. What a small world. I have not yet been able to locate his final resting place, but have been calling around the various funeral homes to see if they have records as I think it would be interesting for hubby to visit the grave, and - if I find the info - where he lived at the time of his death.

I have managed to find his dad's sister, my hubby's aunt, on Facebook and am waiting (hopefully) for a response.

These journeys and delvings are exciting but sooo slow, so much to find, sift through and figure what pertains to his family and what doesn't.
